BESPOKE TWEED

I love designing tweed, and am delighted to quote for estate tweed or just for a bolt for personal use.  There is no real minimum but as it costs almost the same for a whole piece (70 metres)as it does for any less it is really only practical to do 50 metres or so.  When designing a new tweed I will visit the client to discuss with them what they are looking for and to get a feel of the colours and shapes of the local environment.  Thereafter I will produce 3 - 5 designs in a computer printout from which to chose.  The tweed can either be woven in Wensleydale wool or in traditional worsted or shetland.

LIGHTWEIGHT TWEED

I have recently developed a lightweight tweed for a client who loved "proper" Scottish tweeds but found them too hot and heavy to wear anywhere but a Scottish moor.  So we now have not only our lightweight tweed which weighs 11oz per linear yard (compared to 28oz for a traditional gamekeeper quality) but also - hot off the loom - our "tropical tweed" which weighs just over 9oz.. 

The lightweight tweed has been received with great enthusiasm and has been used for both ladies and gentlemen's clothing. The tropical tweed is still just in the final trial stages but will be available shortly.

BESPOKE TARTAN

Likewise we can make tartan to order, either in Wensleydale or in pure 100% worsted wool. We use the traditional tartan dyes and then have them copied (as in all our products) to produce a light fast and colour fast dye.  This produces all the benefits of modern dyes with the glorious soft colours of the originals.  The results are quite lovely.  The illustration here is of the Menzies tartan.
